Our history

Although a new company itself, Comparison Technologies has been through a journey that includes years of experience in the price comparison industry. Before they merged to create Comparison Technologies in 2018, both UK Web Media and Fundraising Innovations had been acting as exciting new innovators in their respective sectors for 16 years.

Both founded in 2002, over the next few years both companies went from strength-to-strength, with energyhelpline launching in 2003 and being singled out by Martin Lewis of moneysavingexpert as his top pick in the industry. The next year saw UK Web Media begin its relationship with BT, with Sky joining them in 2005. 2005 also saw energyhelpline reach 100,000 switchers using the service - a huge milestone for the company.

It only took a few more years for that figure to reach 1 million in 2011. In the meantime, UK Web Media greatly expanded its telecoms comparison portfolio by launching the Broadband Finder, Mobile Phones and Digital TV comparison websites in 2007.

By 2012, UK Web Media had expanded into offline telecoms switching by opening a new callcentre, with energyhelpline playing a huge part in the creation of collective energy switching in the same year.

In 2018, the companies joined together to form Comparison Technologies, where we combined our expertise in energy, broadband, digital TV and mobile phones comparison to offer independent and multi-channel switching for all home services.
